To-ji temple

It was the headquarters of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyoto. It was built by Kodo-daishi in 826 A.D. and burned four times before being struck down by lightning. This pagoda was built in 1644.
